The Art of Shoes

The Art of Shoes

What is it about shoes? The love of, and sometimes obsession for, "Shoes" !
Many have tried to answer this question. Sometimes I think that there are no complete answers to particular phenomenon's in life and we should just be happy and embrace them. For we are confusing creatures - us human beings.

I am happy to say, that I love shoes, they don't always love me (ouch) but I do love them.  I especially love it when I see the creations of shoes. Either the shoe themselves or art inspired of, or made from shoes.

Giant Sculptures made from giant shoes by artist Petros Christostomou

Or the Bruce Gray Sculptures

And many other artists creating giant shoes.

And of course, Art-work applied to a shoe

Paintings inspired by the obsession of shoes, this by Andy Warhol

The creators themselves. We bow down to you, all the designers and makers of these things we love.

So, be prepared ladies, for we are about to post some more stunning creations that you can buy in store, and on online. Your very own maasterpiece on your foot. Check out and follow face book, make sure you are sitting down though !

Boot Love. Revamp winter boots, show them the love.

We here, are self confessed boot lovers! I have heaps of boots and added more to my collection this winter. I have worn boots pretty much every day of this winter, they are just fabulous. With this in mind, I have a great to tip to make sure your boot collection grows and is not just replaced every winter.
Re-vamp, repair and give them some love and care.

Here are two pairs of my favourites. I have worn them both to death, they are my go too's daily. I am also very rough with and hard wearing on my shoes. The first pair I have pictured are 6 years old - "Quins Pontanas". They retailed for $450.00 back then and have been worth every cent.

This how they looked prior to their most recent visit to the shoe doctor. Find yourself a great local
old-style cobler. They do a much better job and usually have more reasonable prices. I use "Margate Locksmith and Shoe Repairer". These black boots were almost completely "stuffed" excuse the French. This is the first time I have had them completely re-souled. Usually each year I get them a glue touch up and leather treatment etc.

A lot of people avoid moulded soles because they don't think they can be easily fixed. You are about to be proven wrong - (insert evil laugh)

The second pair are these red "Martini Marco" boots, they were $220.00 retail. These, I have worn a lot this season and I have let these go too far ! They were almost beyond help and being red means they are somewhat harder to reclaim. Enter, our amazing friends from Margate.

Ok, are you ready, here comes the re-vamp photos !

My Red Boots - "Ready" for action.

(the old soul laying beside the boots)

My absolute favourites are back to life again, whoohoo x

So, for $50.00 all up I now have my boots back in action and I will get at least another season out of them. Next winter, instead of replacing these boots I can look at adding to my collection with styles I am missing, which I am very excited about. It is definately worth investing in quality boots (and shoes), you really do get what you pay for. I will be onto my 7th year with the black boots, amazing value.

Shoe Storage - arrrrgh !

With all those lovely shoes and boots comes the dilema of storing the beauties. I know I am still yet to solve this problem thoroughly. Every home is different and so too is every closet, forget about shoe envy, I have closet envy. Check out some of these ideas.

Gosh, maybe she shares these with a couple of other ladies ?

I dont mind this one, it looks like its closed off from the other rooms, which I would prefer.

The bookshelf idea is good, it gives quick access and easy viewing. Although, it wouldn't be my answer, unless it had doors on it. The practical thing that I am, I would not want to have to dust them all and I kind of like them covered. Also they would fade more exposed like this.

What do you do to solve your shoe storage problems ? And what a problem to have !

The Winter Boot Collection of a Shoe Lover

Well there is no hiding it - I LOVE BOOTS !!! My love of boots began when I was 18 years old and I bought my first pair of Apre' Ski boots in London. They were black with a white and black spotted fluff top on them. I don't have a picture of them, I absolutely adored them. On this same trip I purchased my first pair of long suede boots, in a taupe colour. I also had a long pair of , equestrian style, red red red boots tailor made in Athens. These boots have long since gone to the shoe gods, but I still remember them with love in my heart.
So -- here is my current ever growing collection of boots - mmwaahh xx

These are are a pair of boots I bought at Shoe's on Scarborough, in their very first winter season. The stunning "Quins Ponanta" brand. They are now 5 years old, and I have worn them to death. Well worth the investment, I can definitely say that I have worked our "Cost per wear rule" with these.

( post http://shoesonscarborough.blogspot.com.au/2011/07/cost-per-wear-rule_28.html )
I have worn my black leggings with all these boots, not what I would wear with all of them normally. However, this is about the boots and I think they are a great canvas. These little gems are from a designer who has since retired. They are inspired by "The Kiss"' painting.

Robert Robert masterpiece, what more can I say !

These babies were ahead of their time! Django and Juliette in burnt orange. The must have colour for this season and
"the new red"
Maluf Italian, full of amazingness boots. I will always be obsessed with points, I am so glad they are making a come-back. Although, I would wear these regardless xx

I had to include these Rhode Apre' ski boots, in my favourite colour- red. They are super comfortable, funky and practical.
Relaxashoe - these are as close to an Ugg as I am going to get. Amazingly comfortable and the colour is a really handy addition to the wardrobe.

EOS, short cowboy boots. This picture was taken just after I went horse riding in Noosa. A must have in anyones collection and the style is huge this winter.

These are my "go to" boots. They have a stable wedge heel, look good and are surprisingly comfortable - might have to get another colour in these this year !

Classy little Lola Tores numbers, a handy black variation, and I love the leather ties around the ankles.

Brando Italian fabulous, long boots. I can do heaps with these and each time I wear them the leather gets more amazing. These are my newest addition.
Check out the video clip below with the awesome "Rocco" who is our supplier of Brando.
This video clip shows the amazing Carrie Copper of Beau Coups shoes, Rocco and friends. An insight into the enormous effort that goes into the design of incredible shoes. Pick me for your next trip - Paris, Milan !!!

Merci Beau Coup

Share with us some of your favourite boots and post pictures on our face book site xx

I have heard people say, "I have so many shoes I could bath in them" But this is taking it to another level.  They are quite beautiful, I think I might have to have one ?
These are stunning and functional, a bit like a lot of our beautiful shoes.
